Have you heard of the Moonbow?

Kentucky has a famous waterfall known as “The Niagra of the South”.

This 68-foot-tall waterfall is located within the Daniel Boone National Park, near Corbin, Kentucky. Cumberland Falls is located in the Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, a large multi-use park, part of Kentucky’s fantastic State Park system. Unlike many waterfalls in Kentucky, this one is very easy to access and can be visited by anyone.

But this waterfall is fairly unique! It’s only one of two waterfalls in the United States, and four total in the world, where a Moonbow can be found! Moonbows happen when the light of the moon hits the waterfall mist at the right angle to create a rainbow. At Cumberland Falls, these happen around the full moon, weather permitting. Of course, you have to see them at night when the moon is at the proper angle in the sky.

Beyond just seeing the moonbow and enjoying a fantastic state park, there is a whole festival around the event.

Each month, Downtown Corbin hosts the Moonbow Nights event, featuring live music and more.
